The Houston Police Officers Union called last week for Peter Stout, the head of Houston’s forensics, to resign or be fired. As a backlog of untested evidence piles up at the Houston Forensic Science Center, police are waiting ever longer for the crime lab results that are crucial to their investigations.
“This is a problem that is getting worse by the day,” said Doug Griffith, the union’s chief.
